I am so excited to hear more from Wendy, she has been with us since the beginning and her work is amazing! I love the creative altar cloths plus she has so much more! So as always, we start with the links so that you can find her and all she has going on!
Where do you hail from?
New Jersey, USA but working mostly online
Which is amazing because then we can get your stuff all over!
In a few sentences describe what you do.
I am a pagan artist and ritualist. I create designs from pagan symbols and concepts, which I then use to create altar cloths and tarot cloths, as well as wall art. I also create rituals and sell booklets with the ready-to-use rituals all written up.
Have there been any changes since your last interview? Yes, I have branched out to wall art and actual painting, in addition to the digitally designed art. My partner has joined me in the business and has taken over a lot of the production, so I am concentrating on designs and also on customer service and outreach.
If you could turn into an animal, what would it be? How do the characteristics of this animal relate to your work?
Probably a beaver. I love creating a beautiful home
What do you think of garden gnomes?
ewwww
Hahaha Ewww Why?
My art is clean and modern, as is all the art inside and outside my home. Gnomes really do not fall into that aesthetic.
Are you a hunter or a gatherer? Explain
Gatherer. Love nature walks and growing herbs
What is your favorite new item, service, or special deal you have right now?
The always available, 24×7 scanner in the post office.
We love the original and unusual! Using a scale of 1 to 10, rate yourself on how weird you are. Why?
I feel that I am not odd at all… however, I have certainly had other people point out how weird I am…using that specific word. “Flakey” comes up, too
What differentiates your product/s from the competition?
My art is a departure from most Pagan art, with a modern feel, clean lines, and little representational art, except for natural things like flowers and leaves.
I love the clean lines and the sharpness of the art! Especially items like the fortune telling set.
Tell us more about your business?
I sell colorful, beautiful altar cloths and tarot cloths. I also offer some of the designs stretched or frames as wall art. I sell on both Etsy and Amazon (and anywhere else I can find) with good customer satisfaction. I have a almost 600 5-star reviews on Etsy.
Your success on etsy is amazing, do you have advice for other people getting started on etsy?
My advice for Etsy sellers is to hang in there. It took a couple of years for people to get used to the idea that I was there.
How do you avoid burn out? What do you do to refresh?
I love my work. My husband has stepped in as a partner and has taken over the sewing, so all I do is the fun parts.
Teamwork makes the dream work!
What advice do you have for other Pagan Business owners?
Pagan buyers are, almost always, easier to work with than many other members of the public. I treat them with respect and in return, they are respectful back. I don’t seem to experience the problems other Etsy sellers gossip about.
What is a great book you would recommend?
Besides mine?
Marion Weinstein’s Positive Magic
For those who have never read Marion’s book, what is your favorite part about it?
I like Marion Weinstein’s low-key, matter-of-fact approach to spell-casting. She recognizes that the power comes from within the spellcaster, but it is drawn from the universe. It fits in with my ideas exactly.
What is your favorite thing about being a business owner?
Interacting with my customers!
