Getting to know the Artist Victoria with PhaneronCreations

Hey everyone, it’s been a few minutes since we’ve had an interview…but don’t worry we are still here, busy working away.  Today I am pleased to introduce you to a fantastic artist and the creative director with PhaneronCreations, Victoria.  She hails from Atlanta, Georgia and she does work online and IRL.

First here is where you can find her and her work.

Now let’s get to the good stuff… In a few sentences describe your business?

I make costumes, dolls, wands, hats, miniatures, monsters, sculptures, more hats, altars, brooms, headdresses, cloaks, jewelry, tiny dragons, and more! I love making things so very much, and I sell them to support my insatiable habit of picking up new mediums. Most things I make are multimedia, with clay, feathers, felt, bone, leather, glass, metal, and anything that brings me delight.

Do you work alone?

Mostly, but my mother (from whom I inherited my artistic sense) works with me, as does my sister.

Introduce your team

Me, my mother, my sister, and occasionally a friend or two. Some pieces involve multiple artists with varying areas of expertise.

What is your Mission Statement?

To create new, wonderful, whimsical things that bring joy and inspiration to people who see them.

What is your favorite part about what you do?

The inception of a new idea, the first look in the mind’s eye of the new monster or costume or doll to be made, and also sharing what we’ve made with others!

Why did you start this professional Journey?

I’ve seen people make beautiful things, and I always appreciated their impact on the world. I want to do that as well.

What can you offer customers that your competitors can’t?

Textures, mainly. I’ve worked with so many mediums that my projects often use 30 different materials. I’ve amassed a gigantic amount of crafting supplies, and therefore everything I make has a wide textural and material variance that I greatly enjoy.

How would you handle a herd of cats?

I don’t have to. They know when it’s food time. They wrangle themselves.

Tell us more about your business?

I mainly go to craft fairs to sell my art, as I enjoy the interpersonal experience of watching someone pick up the doll or dragon and decide they’d like to take it home.

However, that’s not as profitable or stable as selling online, so I’d like to expand to that as well!

What superpower would you like to have? and why

Clairvoyance, or the ability to tell fact from fiction without any information. I could ask myself yes or no questions and figure out how to do everything else. I could know the origin of the universe, answer any of mankind’s greatest questions, unlock any potential of the mind and conscious just by asking ‘how?’

When you are not working what do you do?

I tutor homeschooled children, garden excessively, occasionally practice MMA, and work on costumes.

How do you include your Pagan faith in your work?

To me, creation is an act of worship. Bringing beautiful things into the world is a delightful aspect of human nature. I create things with heavy pagan themes, even if they’re not expressly for pagan worship. My art is mainly centered around nature, and I believe that through art we can help people better appreciate nature and the unknown.
