Now let’s get to the good stuff and get to know Rachel a little better…
Where do you hail from?
I am a dual citizen of both the US and Great Britain, was born in Dallas, Texas, and live and work in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Do you work online, in real life, or both?
Both! I do a lot online, and quite a bit in person as well.
In a few sentences describe your business?
As theADDartist, my business is art in all of its forms. I hand sew, hand bead, embroider, paint, make jewelry, carve stone and wood, and carve bone. I make dance costumes and bridal accessories. I call myself theADDartist because one project is never enough for me; I usually have ten or twelve things on deck at all times! I enjoy selling my work online on Etsy, and in person at vending opportunities and events.
As Ouroboros Tarot, I do public or private tarot readings, in person or via chat or email, am working toward doing them online via video as well – but am still sorting out how to use the software I have to make videos the way I want to. I expect to be on Twitch and YouTube soon enough. I am available for parties and events, to set up a tarot table and provide readings, either for a flat event fee, or per reading.
I also lead the Tulsa Tarot group, helping teach other to learn, use, and interpret the tarot themselves. We meet weekly over breakfast for a short lecture and practice sessions.
In addition to producing tradition artwork and jewelry, I also write – poetry, fiction, and non-fiction. I have a blog that I sporadically write in about tarot, and I also have a tarot column in the Oklahoma Pagan Quarterly magazine. I also contribute to a pagan group called A Kaleidoscope of Magical Perceptions on Facebook, in a thread called Twilight’s Insights, where I talk about all manner of topics. I have a couple of serial novels in the works and enjoy writing erotica for fun.
Do you work alone?
Yes, for the most part, I work alone, although I do partner from time to time for vending at events.
What is your Mission Statement?
I’m not sure that I have one. I enjoy creating beautiful and meaningful objects for others, and I enjoy helping others via personal and spiritual guidance.
What is your favorite part about what you do?
Making something new and beautiful and different than anything else I’ve made before, and helping someone when they really needed it.
I really couldn’t say. I just do what I do because I would not be me if I didn’t.
Why did you start this professional Journey?
I really couldn’t say. I just do what I do because I would not be me if I didn’t.
What can you offer costumers that your competitors can’t?
I can offer customers my unique perspectives, my brand of artwork, and my energy.
How would you handle a herd of cats?
I love cats! I currently have four living with me, which although does not constitute a herd, sometimes feels like one, when you add my two youngest children to the mix. I would handle a proper herd with unabashed bribery. Treats and boxes and things to be on top of.
Tell us more about your business?
I’m not sure what else I can say – it is my pleasure to craft things of beauty and energy. To craft heirlooms and treasures, and to help others craft themselves into more full versions of themselves.
What superpower would you like to have? and why
I would love to be able to learn and master any skill I set myself to in a very short period of time, in order to be able to constantly improve myself and my art and my ability to help others.
When you are not working what do you do?
A large amount of the jewelry I craft is in the form of talismans and sigils, and some require rituals and cleansing before they go to their new owners. I also write spells and rituals for time to time. the act of crafting and creating is very spiritual to me as well, and I think everything I make is made with a piece of me or my energy in it.
How do you include your Pagan faith in your work?
A large amount of the jewelry I craft is in the form of talismans and sigils, and some require rituals and cleansing before they go to their new owners. I also write spells and rituals for time to time. the act of crafting and creating is very spiritual to me as well, and I think everything I make is made with a piece of me or my energy in it.
